From the lower Monferrato hills, with the red soils, it is rather surprising when, driving up towards Albugnano you find yourselves on top of two high white hills covered with vineyards. These lands have always produced rich and scented wines where viticulture have specialized in the growing of Malvasia, Freisa, Bonarda and Barbera.
Cascina Gilli is situated in these hills and it includes a historical 1700 building whose wine-cellars were originally used for the vinification and more than 20 hectares of surrounding vineyards. The direct management of these vineyards allows us to reduce the yields per hectare to obtain mature grapes, sound and rich, essential to produce high quality wines. Our efforts and care in winemaking enjoys general esteem from our customers as well as from those best qualified publications in this field consider our Malvasia one of the most interesting dessert wines. Moreover, regarding the other wines we produce, Freisa, Barbera, Bonarda, Rafé, the judgments have always been flattering towards the whole production and not referring to small selected stocks.
