The Palazzo Estate, situated on the eastern slope of Montalcino, was bought by the Loia/Palazzo family in 1983. Set at an altitude of 320 m. a.s.l., it covers an area of approximately fifteen hectares. The soil of eocene origin, is arid and stony which makes it particularly suitable for growing vines. The farm with its old buildings dating back to the 17th century has been completely restored and remodeled to suit modern farming needs.
An area inside the old farmhouse was specially created for the vinification and ageing of the wine.
Another structure, totally in keeping with the styleof the old farmhouse, has been created for bottling, storing and refining the wine. It has been built partly underground to ensure a prime, constant temperature of 14/16 degrees.
The entire production, from the farming of the vines to the vinification, the ageing
and refining, through to the selling of the wine
is carried out by the family.
Four hectares of vineyards, chosen for their prime position, have been devoted to Brunello di Montalcino with a further three hectares sewn with olive grove.
The vineyards, set in a splendid panorama, are exposed to the sun from dawn to sunset, and
are protected from sea breezes. A strict selection
during vegetation allows the grapes to ripen before
they are individually handpicked.
