In the middle of the 20th century the Italian rural areas underwent some significant changes due to the ferment of industrial development after the end of World War II. The countryside was gradually abandoned by farmers, who gave up their traditional field cultivation and cattle breeding and left their rural houses where they had been living for centuries. It thus happened that for about two decades the countryside was a desolate landscape, with a drastically reduced population and the land abandoned to its destiny. Few landowners today continue living in their country houses, lovers of nature and open air; people who scarcely adapt to frenetic city life with its progressive degradation. In this context, the new Fanini Wine Cellar was created, combining the principles of modern grape-growing with a deep knowledge of the territory and its productive potential. It launched the new challenge which led to the production of outstanding wines, greatly appreciated all over the world.
In an area with a particular vocation for wine-growing, the company produces its distinguished wines of high quality and personal character, intended for attentive markets and not strictly dependent on price. Elegant labels designed for different wines recall the places and situations of this area. The bottle packaging is refined, particularly if addressed to restaurants, wine collection shops and private clients.
Our wine cellar turned its particular attention to the Sangiovese grape variety as the expression of the autochthonous grape, which is produced as DOC and IGT, with some varieties chosen after the necessary trials of micro-fermentation. The coupling of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon gives an excellent wine, made from these international grape varieties grown in the local area. Chardonnay fermented in oak barrels is the queen of white wines, with very good commercial success and many important prizes received in the years. Our latest wine is a mix of Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Tocai Friulano grapes, destined for the production of a white wine with great aroma, fresh and dry to the taste. It is a demonstration of the fact that this area has great potential in the production of white grapes and wines.
