Description

The desire "to live in the country" was the driving force behind the efforts by our family, originally from Milan and with a professional background quite different from vine-growing, to renovate an old distillery abandoned for years near the historical centre of Gattina, to establish a wine-making company. Perhaps it couldn't have been any other way since one of our ancestors haled from these parts: a cask-maker and vine-grower nicknamed "Ciuppasell", who dared to "cure" the blight of the 19th century with a Bordeaux mixture, bushing the bunches one by one. Perhaps it couldn't have been any other way because of the love binding us to the land and its fruits.

We combine passion with attention to quality, that today means great professional skills and respect for tradition. So, we bought land and vineyards in those areas of the Gattinara hills with a southern exposure most suitable for vine-growing and we relied on the agronomists who could get the most out of the Morenic hills.

The professional who work with us Know how to transform the affection for the vine into outstanding products for those who visit us. Our enologists are more than familiar with and know how to treat - with due respect - the Nebbiolo vine. This species is the real king of the area but, like with any other sovereign, it demands all the attention. Bonarda, Vespolina, Croatina and Erbaluce are the damsels of the court that emblellish the enological role of the lands of North Piedmont. In the cellar we use large Slavonia oak casks to age Gattinara DOCG, as wellas small 225-litre Allier oak vats to refine fragrances and colours and to enhance the pleasure of the wines.
