Vione becomes a town with its own council in the XIII century, separating itself from Vezza d'Oglio. The local economy is based mainly of agriculture, but at present, many of the related activities such as small dairies, bakeries and mills, have been abandoned and closed.
Vione is one of the most interesting medieval centers the Valley. Recent excavations have discovered the presence of Lombard tombs, for the conservation of "reölcc" (arcades) and the ruins of a Grammar School (XV-XVII c.). Not to miss: the church of San Remigio (XVI century), the Parish Church of Cane (XVII century), the Parish Church of Stadolina (XVII century), the Shrine of the Redeemer, the Sanctuary of Cortaiolo and the Museum of Ethnography " 'L Zuf"
