One of the major commercial centres of the valley. The historic centre still conserves a medieval urbanistic design gathered around the main square, Piazza Varchi, which is enclosed by the Palazzo Pretorio with it coats of arms on the façade, and the Collegiata di San Lorenzo dating from the XIII cent. but re -built some centuries later to a design by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi. In the ex sacristry, seat of the Museum of Arte Sacra, the small temple attributed to Andrea della Robbia and la Consegna della Reliquia del Sacro Latte da parte del Conte Guerra represent one of the best examples of the perfection of the art of glazed terracotta on the part of the celebrated Florentine family.
