Set on the slopes of Monte Corno, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscape of Monte Corno Natural Park, the small town of Anterivo (Altrei in German), in the province of Bolzano, is the only German-speaking municipality in Val di Fiemme.
It was mentioned for the first time in a document of 1321 with the name of "Antereu"; the place name derives from the Latin "in ante rivum" (before the river). The village was founded after a concession of the Count of Tyrol to built 10 masi (farms) and this eventi s still remembered in the municipal coat of arms. Until the First World War Anterivo belonged to "the Magnificent Community of Val di Fiemme" in Cavalese.
Perched on the slopes of a plateau, it is exposed as a south-facing balcony with views down into the valley and the chain of Cembra Lagorai. Anterivo is the ideal location for lovers of untouched nature and walks.
